Security questionnaire allowances compared across eight SOC 2 platforms

Short answer

Only two vendors publish an annual questionnaire allowance: Vanta (25 a year on Plus, 144 on Professional) and Sprinto (20 a year on Foundation). Secureframe places questionnaire automation on its quoted Complete plan. The other five publish questionnaire tooling without an allowance, or do not describe it on the pages we read.

Security questionnaires are where compliance meets sales. Every enterprise deal seems to bring one, and the time they take is a common reason teams look at a new platform. We checked what each of the eight platforms publishes about questionnaire automation on pages read 10 August 2026.

What do the numbers mean in practice?

Twenty a year is roughly one every two and a half weeks. Twenty-five is one every two weeks. 144 is close to three a week. A company with a small enterprise pipeline may never reach 20. A company selling to banks or hospitals may pass 25 in a quarter.

Count the questionnaires your team answered in the last 12 months before you compare. If you do not track them, ask sales and security for an estimate and add a margin for growth.

What about vendor claims on speed and accuracy?

Two vendors publish performance figures for their questionnaire tooling. Vanta says its AI suggestions have a 95% acceptance rate. Scytale says customers share completed security reviews 85% faster. These are vendor claims; we did not test them and they do not affect our scores.

One difference in approach is worth noting: Scytale describes AI auto-fill followed by human expert review. Vanta describes AI suggestions that your team accepts or edits. Ask each vendor who reviews the final answer before it goes to a customer.

How do trust centers fit in?

A trust center can reduce questionnaire volume by answering common questions before they are asked. Vanta lists a Trust Center on every plan, Sprinto a public trust center with a custom domain on Foundation, Secureframe a Trust Center on Fundamentals, Drata Trust Center Standard on Foundation plus a separate Assurance platform, and Scytale a Trust Center it says launches in under 10 minutes. A trust center is not described on the Thoropass, Scrut or Comp AI pages we read.

What should you ask before you switch?

  • How many questionnaires does the plan include each year, and what happens after that?
  • Can we import our past approved answers?
  • Who reviews AI-drafted answers before they are sent?
  • Does the trust center support our own domain?

Questionnaire allowances are one of the few numbers vendors publish. Use them, but measure them against your own volume, not against each other.

How do you count your own volume?

Pull every questionnaire from the last year out of email, the sales tool and shared drives, and log the date, the customer and the hours spent. Split them into full questionnaires and short follow-up questions, because some tools count them differently. Bring that log to each demo and ask the vendor which of the items on it its allowance would cover.
