When a team changes SOC 2 platforms, the software is the easy part to compare. The harder question is who will do the work: mapping controls, moving evidence, writing missing policies and talking to the auditor. Each vendor answers that question on its own pages, in its own words. We read them on 13 July 2026.
Which platforms describe a dedicated expert?
Scytale describes the most hands-on model in our lineup. Its compliance experts page says a dedicated compliance expert manages the entire audit-readiness process, with weekly meetings, and that Scytale takes over full management of the audit process with your chosen auditor. Two of its startup bundles, Build DFY and Build Stronger, include consulting packages named LaunchReady and StayReady.

Scytale scores highest on our switching help criterion for this reason, and it trails rivals on integrations and pricing transparency.
Which platforms put auditors close to the work?
Thoropass describes in-house auditor support and an audit and assessment offering led by an audit partner it describes as ex Big 4 and Coalfire. For a team that wants the people checking the controls to be close to the platform, that is the defining feature. For a team that wants its auditor kept separate from its tool vendor, it is the thing to ask about.

Which platforms work through partners?
Vanta routes expert services through partners: vCISOs, MSPs and MSSPs, with access to expert partners listed on its Essentials plan. Its Essential Eight page also mentions a dedicated Customer Success team. Drata says it works with 1300+ partners across channel, technology and auditors, with vCISO partners providing security leadership. Secureframe markets automation backed by compliance experts and includes access to its Audit Partner Network on Fundamentals.

A partner model gives you choice: you can pick a vCISO or auditor you already trust. It also means a second contract and a second relationship to manage during a switch.
Which platforms describe a support desk model?
Sprinto's Foundation plan lists 24x5 standard email and in-app support. A dedicated compliance expert is not described on the pages we read. For teams with an in-house security lead who wants a capable tool and fast answers, that can be enough.

Where do expert chat and AI teammates fit?
Comp AI offers 1:1 Slack support with experts and says they respond in under 3 minutes, a vendor claim we did not check. Scrut describes expert guidance and a playbook for startups, alongside seven named AI Teammates, including an Onboarding Analyst. Both put more of the day-to-day work in the software and a chat channel than in a scheduled meeting.

How do the models score for a switcher?
On our switching help criterion (weight 22 of 100), the scores follow the models: Scytale 9, Thoropass 7, Comp AI 6, Vanta 5, Secureframe 5, Scrut 5, Drata 4, and Sprinto 3. The scores reflect how much of the work each vendor says it will do with you, as described on its own pages. They are not a judgment of support quality, which we did not test.
Which model fits you?
- No security lead, first audit, tight deadline: a dedicated expert or in-house auditor model removes the most work.
- A security lead who wants to choose advisers: a partner model gives the most choice.
- An experienced team that mainly wants tooling: a support desk or chat model costs the least time in meetings.
Whichever you choose, ask in the demo who will do the first 30 days of migration work, by name or role, and get it in writing.
